Virtual/Hybrid Working Curriculum

Jacey Spratt and Regina Rabenhorst are professional trainers, facilitators, and certified coaches who started this curriculum to help organizations cope with the immediate and drastic changes to their work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since May 2020, they have offered offered the courses below to a variety of organizations, receiving excellent feedback. The curriculum includes:
Course 1: Managing Staff in a Hybrid Context (2.5 hours; $200/person)
This course will prepare supervisors to address the management challenges of a hybrid team and will include scenarios for application. Objectives include:
Address challenges of working in this “next normal” hybrid context
Explore the essential elements of managing in this context, including onboarding and setting expectations, communicating effectively, building trust and developing the team, and motivating and empowering
Identify key attitudes and practices for successfully engaging and managing staff
Course 2: Assessing Team Health in a Hybrid Environment (2 hours; $150/person)
This course will give you the framework and tools you need to assess how effectively your team is operating in a virtual/hybrid context. We will use the Drexler/Sibbet Team Performance Model which is both diagnostic in identifying common challenges and solution-oriented in offering a range of actions to improve team effectiveness.
Introduce the Drexler/Sibbet model for assessing virtual/hybrid team health
Diagnose team challenges at each stage of the model when working virtually or in a hybrid context
Identify solution-oriented actions for teams working in this context
Course 3: Hybrid Facilitation and Collaboration (3 hours; $250/person)
This course combines the key content of Virtual Facilitation Skills and Virtual Collaboration: Tips and Tools for Brainstorming and Decision-Making in a three hour combination course. Objectives include:
Explore virtual facilitation best practices before, during, and after your event
Discuss common challenges of virtual facilitation and techniques to overcome them
Learn techniques for generating ideas, narrowing choices, and gaining agreement virtually
Gain hands on experience using virtual tools to collaborate
Course 4: Hybrid Facilitation Skills (2 hours; $150/person)
Do you regularly facilitate your weekly team meeting? Are you looking to sharpen your facilitation skills in a virtual setting? Need a boost to your confidence as a facilitator? In this course you will:
Explore virtual facilitation best practices before, during, and after your event
Discuss common challenges of virtual facilitation and techniques to overcome them
Highlight the facilitator’s many roles in a virtual setting
Course 5: Hybrid Collaboration: Tips and Tools for Brainstorming and Decision Making (2 hours; $150/person)
Brainstorming, consensus building, and decision-making are essential skills when working on teams. Have you been struggling in a virtual context to brainstorm ideas effectively with your team, evaluate and prioritize your options, and make decisions together to move forward? Do you have a strategy or work planning session coming up that you want to prepare for? Learn tips and tools for doing this effectively. In this course you will:
Employ strategies for groups to work together more collaboratively and productively in a virtual environment
Learn techniques for generating ideas, narrowing choices, and gaining agreement virtually
Gain hands on experience using digital tools to apply to team development/transition retreats, start-up/strategy workshops, and annual work planning sessions
Course 6: Tools for Hybrid Proposal and Project Collaboration (2 hours; $150/person)
This course focuses on how to enhance engagement, productivity, and efficiency for virtual proposal and project work. From designing more inclusive and interactive agendas to increasing comfort levels with various digital tools to fostering better decision making, this course will help staff at all levels collaborate better virtually.
Explore how to enhance engagement and interactivity in a virtual context
Gain hands on experience using digital tools to apply to various proposal and project contexts
Design sessions that are inclusive for participants with varying bandwidth and access to technology
Scheduling Information
To hold an organization-specific session, we need to confirm a guaranteed minimum of 15 tickets purchased via Eventbrite. Each course will be scheduled based on your team’s availability and customized to your context.
